All Jammu and Kashmir GujjarBakerwal Conference (AJKGBC), president, Haji Choudary Mohammad Yousaf, on Monday urged upon the governor’s administration to sanction the demand of divisional status to Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley, in order to “address developmental deficit” in the twin border regions.
Yousaf said, “It has been a long pending demand of the people of Chenab valley and Pir Panchal region that a separate division status should be accorded to their regions. The sanctioning of the demand will ensure that the people do not feel left out and have a major say in addressing the developmental deficit in the regions.”
While hailing National Conference leader Omar Abdullah’s promise of granting divisional status if voted to power, the president said, “The government has ignored the twin border regions on developmental front as well as other benefits. Sanctioning divisional status will go a long way in solving people’s problems.”
He further said that his organization, AJKGBC, will support the movement of divisional status.
