SSP Ramban, brother inspire people to follow lockdown through songs, poetry

Amid the ongoing COVID19 lockdown, a poet and his younger brother, who is a top police official, are motivating people through their poetry and soulful singing on social media to follow lockdown orders in Dooda district.

Poet Imtiaz-ur-Rehman Tanha, who is also a well known socialactivist of Sarafan, is using his heart touching poetry to spread the messageof humanity and brotherhood amidst coronavirus scare, through his social mediaaccounts.

   

His younger brother Haseeb-ur-Rehman, a senior policeofficer, presently working as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, hasbecome a social media sensation and an inspiration, especially among young forhis soulful singing. He is using the talent to motivate people to stay indoors.

The Rehman brothers shared two separate videos on socialmedia on Thursday and Wednesday urging people to stay home, in their own style.

While the SSP, Haseeb choose sufi singing, the elder one,Imtiaz, recited a beautiful poem, on social media handles.

“A common man is not scared of corona, but theprolonged lockdown and social distancing which is compulsory to fight thedeadly virus has started taking onto their nerves, especially youngergeneration is becoming increasingly impatient,” said the SSP.

“Singing is my passion since childhood. In the givencircumstances, besides regular policing to ensure lockdown, I decided to givemy childhood passion (singing) a try and surprisingly this turned out to bevery effective as the response from the youth is beyond my expectations. This newexperience is heartwarming for me and stress buster as well,” the SSPsaid.

His brother is not far behind as the poetry he has beenuploading on social media is getting hundreds of hits and likes.

“I just try to pen down whatever I feel strongly about amidstthe virus scare. Luckily people are connecting with my poems, which is verysatisfactory. I request everyone please stay home to stop spread of thecoronavirus,” said Imtiaz.

The Rehman brothers also requested people to acknowledgeefforts of the medical staff and security personnel who are “fighting the virusselflessly.”

The unique initiative by police officer and his poet-brotherto encourage people to stay at home is being appreciated by all especiallyyounger generation.

“The soul touching voice that too from a senior copamidst coronavirus fear and tension is definitely very soothing and surelycalms down the nerves. I think this is the best way to motivate and encouragepeople to stay indoors,” said Zoraiz Khan Yusafzai, a teenager from Bhadarwah.
