Teacher suspended for ‘violating’ MCC

District election officer (DEO), Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana, Tuesday suspended a teacher for allegedly violating the model code of conduct (MCC), besides being absent from duty.

An order issued from the office of the DEO read, “Thephotographs of Akhter Hussain Malik, posted at GMS Binoon, zone Drabshalla,have been circulating on social media sites, which was also received from thechief electoral officer and was forwarded to tehsildar Drabshalla for enquiryand to report about the whereabouts of the teacher.”

   

“The concerned enquiry Officer has reported that the teacher,despite being a government employee, has attended the function with Dr ShahFaesal, president of J&K Peoples Movement, in Jammu on March 30, 2019. Hehas also been absent from duties from March 9 till date,” the order read,adding that his presence in the political function tantamount to grossviolation of model code of conduct.

Taking note of the enquiry report, the DEO suspended AkhterHussain Malik with immediate effect. “Further, the teacher will remain attachedin the office of tehsildar Bounjwah during the period of suspension,” the orderstates.

Also, the chief education officer, Kishtwar, has beenappointed as an enquiry officer to conduct discreet enquiry regarding theteacher’s unauthorized absence from the duty and presence in the function of DrShah Faesal at Jammu. The officer has been asked to furnish a report within 15days.
