Traffic restored on Srinagar-Jammu highway after landslides

After remaining closed for brief period owing to shooting stones and landslides, the Srinagar-Jammu bnational highway was opened for vehicular traffic on Saturday.

An official said thetraffic remained affected for till Sunday afternoon and all the vehiclesen-route Valley were stopped at Udhampur, and Peera Chandrkote, Ramban andother places.

   

The official said the decision toi halt traffic was takenafter fresh landslide at Monkey Morh and Battary Chasma.

“More than three thousand vehicles including trucks carryingessential commodities remained stranded on the highway,” said theofficial.  The highway was howeverrestored after the authorities pressed in service men and machinery to clearthe landslides and shooting stones.
