Truck driver held with 8.5 kg poppy straw in Batote

Batote Police arrested a truck driver, after 8.5 kilogram poppy straw was recovered from the truck he was driving, Tuesday evening.

Police source said on specific information, a police party of Police station Batote intercepted a truck, bearing registration number PB07Q-8250, which was heading towards Jammu from Srinagar. During checking of the vehicle 8.5 kg of poppy straw (Bhukki) recovered from the truck.

   

Driver of the truck was identified as Palvinder Singh, son of Pargat Singh, resident of Sundian tehsil Dasuya district Hoshiarpur Punjab The driver was arrested on spot.

Police said during preliminary questioning, the driver of the vehicle confessed he was illegally transporting the contraband.

A case FIR no 12/2021 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Batote.

“The arrest and recovery was made by SHO Police Station Batote Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao SHO Batote under the supervision of SSP Ramban Haseeb ur Rehman,” said police.
