An eight-year old boy was run over by a speedy truck on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Chanderkote Friday evening.
Police said the boy, Zubir Ahmed son of Haider, a residentof Kumait tehsil Rajgagh, came under a speedy truck bearing registrationnumberJK22A-2494, at main market Chanderkote.
The injured boy was rushed to district hospital Rambanwhere, upon seeing his deteriorating condition, the doctors referred him toGovernment Medical College and Hospital Jammu.
The erring driver Mohammad Ishfaq, a resident of Awantiporahas been arrested and the offending vehicle seized.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Chanderkote.
