Weeklong workshop on data analytics with Python commences at JU’s Bhaderwah campus

Department of computer science and IT, Bhaderwah campus ofthe Jammu University in collaboration with Indian Institute ofTechnology–Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) on Tuesday organized a weeklong workshop on”faculty development programme on data analytics with Python.”

As per the release, the workshop is a part of Golden Jubleecelebration of University of Jammu.

   

The workshop was inaugurated by rector Bhaderwah Campus,chief guest and patron of this workshop, Prof Anil K Raina in presence of DrSrriraman Raja Gopalan as IT expert, Dr Jatinder Manhas, head computer scienceand IT and organizing secretary of the workshop, Dr Neeraj Sharma, HOD IME,event coordinator, Dr Abid Sarwar and computer experts from differentuniversities of the state. The workshop commenced with the lighting of lamp.

“More than 70 participants (academic and research scholars)from different universities of the state and outside the state are attendingthis workshop. The aim behind this workshop is to make aware the budding computerexperts about data analytics with Python,” the press release said.

In his address, rector Bhaderwah campus and patron of theworkshop, Prof Anil K Raina congratulated the department of computer scienceand IT, Bhaderwah Campus and Indian Institute of Technology –Roorkee (IITRoorkee) for organizing the workshop on the latest technology.

“This workshop was possible only with the tireless effortsof Dr Jatinder Manhas who being the organizing secretary of this event heldseries of correspondence with IIT Roorkee in getting this event done,” he said,adding that soon Bhaderwah campus and IIT Rurkee will sign a MoU which willhelp further to organize more faculty development programmes.

Dr Sriraman Rajagopalan, IT expert form IIT Roorkee in hisdetailed power point presentation, spoke on the technical aspect of thisworkshop. He said that Python is a general-purpose programming language that isbecoming more and more popular for doing data science.

“Companies worldwide are using Python to harvest insights fromtheir data and get a competitive edge. It is really a great experience to workwith department of computer sciences Bhaderwah campus and this workshop willfurther strengthen the relations between IIT Roorkee and Bhaderwah Campus,”saidDr Rajagopalan.

He futher said that this one week faculty developmentprogramme (FDP) on “Open Source Technologies in Data Science” with specialfocus on Python from May 6 to 11, 2018 will discuss many issues.

“The workshop on FDP will discuss issues related toartificial intelligence, deep learning, and image analytics with particularemphasis on the emerging research paradigms in data science with respect to itsapplications in various fields,” he addedDr Sanjeev Manhas, principal investigatorE&ICT academy of IIT Ruorkee, interacted with the participants throughonline mode.
