Wildlife officials capture leopard in Doda

A leopard that had strayed close to residential areas at village Beoli of Doda was captured on Wednesday by wildlife officials.

Wild Life Warden Chenab-Kishtwar, Majid Bashir, said that they have been receiving complaints from the local residents about the presence of leopard for some time.

He said the leopard, which was on prowl for the past ten days, was trapped in a cage early morning.

“The leopard has been sent to Kishtwar, where from the animal will be sent to Manda Zoo in Jammu and will be kept there for the rest of his life,” he said.

Pertinently, after the recent heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of Doda district, wild animals, especially leopards, enter human habitats, triggering fear psychosis among the villagers.
