An 82-year old woman died and her son was seriously injured by a landslide that hit their mud house in Doda district Saturday even as 25 cattle of the family were also killed in the incident, officials said.
The incident occurred in Baggar area, Ravinder Pal Singh, SPOperations Doda said.
According to sources, due to continuous rains sinceThursday, a huge landslide hit the house of Isher Dass today at 6 AM, buryingthe entire structure and inmates sleeping inside under the heap of mud anddebris.
Singh said that after receiving information from locals, apolice team immediately reached the spot and started rescue operation alongwith locals.
“After 2 hours of hectic efforts, the woman and her sonwere retrieved and shifted to District Hospital Doda, where doctors declaredmother as brought dead, while her son is undergoing treatment,” he said,adding that dozens of cattle were also killed in the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Ashru Devi wife of SantRam of Ramgarh (Bagger) Assar; the injured as Ishar Dass.
