The weeklong workshop on ‘faculty development programme on data analytics with python’ concluded here at Bhaderwah Campus on Sunday.
The programme, sponsored by Ministry of Electronics andInformation Technology, was organized by Department of Computer Science and IT,Bhaderwah Campus in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee,as a part of golden jubilee celebration of University of Jammu.
The valedictory ceremony, which was held at Lal DedAuditorium, was presided over by Prof Anil K Raina, Rector Bhaderwah Campus andchief patron of the workshop. Prof Lait Sen Sharma, Head of the
Department of Computer Sciences and IT, University of Jammu,was the chief guest, while Col D D Pandey, CO 4 RR, was the guest of honour.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr SrriramanRaja Gopalan, who served as an IT expert from IIT Roorkee, and Dr JatinderManhas, Head Computer Science and IT and organizing secretary of the workshop,besides computer experts from different universities of the state.
More than 70 participants, including academic and researchscholars, attended the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Anil K Raina congratulatedthe Department of Computer Science and IT, and E&ICT Academy of IndianInstitute of Technology Roorkee for organizing the workshop.
“With the culmination of the weeklong workshop, theparticipants may have got an in-depth information about the new technology,which is data analytics with python,” he said.
“We are also working on signing an MoU with IIT Roorkee tostrengthen the bond we share,” he added.
Prof Lalit Sen Sharma spoke about the importance of suchtypes of workshop and encouraged the department to keep organizing academicactivities in the times to come.
Dr Jatinder Manhas thanked all the delegates and apprisedthem about the academic activities completed during the course of the workshop.He said, “During the workshop, focus was given to the themes including,artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, deep neural networks,medical image processing, data science initiatives in medical diagnosis, and ITtechnology.”
Col D D Pandey, in his address, motivated the delegates andappreciated the efforts put in by the department of Computer Sciences BhaderwahCampus.
Dr Sriraman Rajagopalan, IT expert form IIT Roorkee, in hisdetailed Power Point presentation, spoke on the technical aspect of theworkshop. He said, “Python is a general-purpose programming language that isbecoming more and more popular for doing data science. Companies worldwide areusing python to harvest insights from their data and get a competitive edge. Itis really a great experience to work with department of Computer SciencesBhaderwah Campus and this workshop will further strengthen the relationsbetween IIT Roorkee and Bhaderwah Campus.”
Dr Abid Sarwar, Assistant Professor, conducted theproceedings.
The workshop was coordinated by Bablu Sharma, Abrar Ali,Muzaffar, Shallu Kotwal, Neha Koul, Yasir Ali, Parvesh, Nisar and Binny.
