Yateem Foundation distributes ration among widows

Extending their helping hand to the needy section of the society, J&K Yateem Foundation (YF) under Widow Welfare Programme (WWP) and Poor Welfare Programme (PWP), distributed ration and other grocery items among 90 widows prior to the holy month of Ramadhan, at Bhaderwah on Sunday.

A pre-Ramdhan function was organised by J&K YateemFoundation at its Bhaderwah headquarter located at Qilla Mohallah in which alarge number of guests, donors, volunteers and destitute participated.

   

The function was presided over by the district headvolunteer Showket Hayat Malik, where retired Tehsildar Masood Ahmed was thechief guest.

Retired AEE PHE, Manzoor Ahmed Mir and retired ALC AbdulQayoom Mir were the guests of honour.

The programme started with the recitation of verses of HolyQuran by general secretary of the organisation Irshad Ahmed Rangrez followed byspeeches by the volunteers and donors.

While appreciating the concrete steps of J&K YateemFoundation, the speakers emphasized the need to work for the welfare of widows,orphans, patients and other destitute so that they may share the happiness andblessings of Holy month of Ramadhan.

On this occasion, the relief in the form of ration kitscontaining food items and other grocery items were distributed among 90 widowsbelonging to poor families.

“We started with a humble donation of just Rs 25,000 in2006 and by the grace of Almighty, the contribution has reached to more than 15lacs this year that too from the donors of Bhaderwah alone, which is veryencouraging. We get donations from both Muslims and non-Muslim and ourbeneficiaries are also chosen irrespective of their religion,” said Tehsilhead volunteer, Javed Ahmed Qazi.

“Under our WWP, we are providing financial assistanceto 84 families @2000 every alternate month. In addition to monetary help, todaywe distributed ration and other grocery items among 90 widows especially inview of holly month of Ramadhan and before Eid, we will again distribute therequired stuff among them,” Qazi added, saying that foundation has beenalso extending helping hand for medical aid in case of emergency, one time helpto poor families, marriage of orphan and poor girls, education aid for highereducation to poor students and disaster management.

Destitutes and widows registered with the foundation aregetting regular monetary help in every two months, beside their wards are alsobeing sponsored for higher education.

“I lost my husband in an accident 8 years back andduring the trying times, Yateem Foundation came to my rescue and it’s becauseof their help that my children are getting education,” said a beneficiaryof Bhaderwah.

Prominent among those who were present during the functioninclude district head volunteer Showket Hayat Malik, Tehsil head volunteer,Javed Iqbal Qazi, general secretary Irshad Ahmed Rangrez, Abdul QayoomKagazgar, Saleem-ur-Rehman Sambri, Mohd Iqbal Ganai, Fareed Ahmed Butt, DrNazir Tak, Barkatulla Khateeb, Sajad Sarmadi and others.
