Sovereignty is Allah’s exclusive preserve, it is assigned as per the recorded deeds, and the assignment could be reversed if the ones assigned to carry on with the deed do not measure up to the set standards, as stands noted:
”Say, O God, Owner of Sovereignty. You grant sovereignty to whom You will, and You strip sovereignty from whom You will. You honour whom You will, and You humiliate whom You will. In Your hand is all goodness. You are capable of all things” (3: 26)
It could be inferred from the Holy Verse that no nation is Allah’s favourite, and neither any individual in leadership role could claim to be Allah’s favourite, as everyone is judged according to Divine Laws. The laws thus laid down have to be strictly followed. Status and position is determined according to one’s deeds. So, whoever violates the Divine Norm deprives himself of authority, as well as honour. Allah has laid down the required measures to regulate all that is good for humanity, and for the well-being of nations.
As is laid down, Allah is capable of all things. The assertion is seen on a daily basis on the physical and spiritual plane of the universe, as stands noted in the Ayah Karim following the one noted above:
”You merge the night into the day, and You merge day into the night, and You bring the living out of the dead, and You bring the dead out of the living; and You provide for whom You will without measure” (3:27)
The Holy Verse (3:27) following the one on sovereignty (3:26) is a reaffirmation of Divine Power to set the Divine Order. The Divine Power is all embracing—changing the day into the night and night into the day; bringing the dead out of living and living out of the dead. And, providing for whom He will without measure reaffirms further that Allah’s power to frame the Divine Order is limitless, assigning sovereignty or divesting it forms just a part of it.
