Inhuman: Municipal committee dumps injured horse at garbage site

Municipal authorities on Thursday dumped an injured horse at a garbage dumping site in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Terming the act as “inhuman”, locals said the injured horse was dumped at garbage dumping site on the banks of Wular Lake in Zalwan area of Bandipora. “Instead of taking the animal who was injured probably after being hit by some vehicle during wee hours in main market Bandipora, for medical treatment, the municipal committee Bandipora dumped it alive at the garbage dumping site,” said Umer a witness.

Executive officer municipal committee Bandipora, Wali Mohammad said the horse was dead and that was the reason it was lifted and dumped near Zalwan. “As per the reports I received, the horse was dead in the first place,” he said. However, the local witnesses refuted the claim of the executive officer, saying that the horse was alive when it was dumped. When this report was filed in the evening the animal was still alive.
