IS ANYBODY LISTENING ?

This is in reference to recruitment process for entry level faculty positions in 39 disciplines at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (Soura). Four years on (faculty recruitment notice of 2015, re-advertised in 2016) the selection process for various faculty positions in many departments at SKIMS is still hanging in air.

Out of 39 departments the SKIMS administration declared the results of only 20 departments after three and a half years on October 3 2018, with SKIMS director assuring on numerous occasions that the selection list in other departments will be issued within few weeks after some formalities.

These formalities were prescribed by a review committee formed by the government. The committee members in review process who withheld the results of almost 19 departments were the same who were part of the selection process all these years.

SKIMS should have been able to finish the whole process within a span of few months but we are still waiting in despair to see the full selection list in public domain. PGI Chandigarh concludes faculty selection process in more than 50 departments twice in a year.

We urge the Governor to take cognisance of the matter and direct SKIMS administration to come out with the pending selection lists at the earliest.

Choked drain troubles Shahampora residents

We the residents of Shahampora Nowhatta want to bring it into the notice of the authorities that drain in our area gets choked every now and then.

We can’t even walk properly as the drainage water overflows most of the time. We have to keep our doors and windows closed due to the foul smell which emanates from the accumulated drain water.

We urge the concerned authorities to look into the matter and get this drain cleaned so that people of the area could get a sigh of relief.

Revoke SRO 202

We the newly recruited 10+2 lecturers appointed through the highest recruiting agency of state Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) have been victimised by the state policy makers. We have been placed under the draconian policy of SRO 202 despite being in the gazetted cadre. We the appointed lecturers have highest academic degrees of MPhil, PhD NET, SET and have qualified the screening test and interview of JKPSC but we are being denied the rights which our counterparts are enjoying in every department. This has lowered our morale. This anti-youth policy has dejected the fresh recruits who otherwise are full of energy to work for their people. We request Governor and his advisors to have a sympathetic look into harsh SRO 202 and revoke it at the earliest so that the youth don’t suffer.
