An army gunner succumbed to his injuries which he suffered during a live firing training at Akhnoor sector on Tuesday.
The deceased soldier has been identified as Sayan Gosh of the Artillery Regiment.
A defence spokesperson said that the deceased and his two other colleagues suffered fatal injury due to a firing accident while carrying out live firing training at Field Firing Ranges in Akhnoor Sector. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed, said the defence spokesperson.
Quoting preliminary investigation, the defence spokesperson said, “During practice at firing range, the barrel of 105 MM gun suddenly busted resulting in injuries to three army personnel in Akhnoor.”
He said, “Two other injured soldiers Naib Subedar Ashoke Bhosle and Havaldar Adesh Kumar are out of danger.”
