10 COVID deaths, 463 new cases in J&K

The total number of COVID19 cases in J&K reached 24390 with 463 new cases confirmed today even as 10 patients lost battle with the viral illness.

At SKIMS Medical College Hospital, a 55 year old woman from Lolab Kupwara died Saturday afternoon. A doctor at the hospital said the patient had been referred on Thursday and was sick when admitted.

   

Two more Kupwara residents died today, one each at SKIMS and SMHS hospital. Both males hailed from Panzgam and Neelipora villages. From the adjoining Baramulla district, a 50 year old and a 70 year old man died due to COVID19 infection. A doctor said the 50 year old man from Sopore was admitted at SKIMS while the 70 year old from Kreeri was admitted at SMHS Hospital. Sopore man was known to have diabetes, a doctor said.

From southern Kashmir, four people died due to COVID19 at various hospitals. A 55 year old woman from Malpora Pulwama died at district hospital Pulwama today. She was a diabetic. A man of the same age from Awatipora Pulwama died at SKIMS. He was suffering from a kidney ailment and died due to cardiac arrest, a doctor said.

A 90 year old man from Nawakadal Srinagar and a 50 year old woman from Natipora died at SMHS Hospital and SKIMS respectively.

A 58 year old from Gurez Bandipora died at SKIMS late evening on Saturday while a 70 year old woman from Khanmoh Pulwama died at SMHS Hospital.

With these deaths the toll of COVID19 reached 463.

Meanwhile, 463 new cases of COVID19 were confirmed in J&K. Of these, 178 were from Srinagar district. A health official said that approximately 45 of the cases reported from Srinagar were among samples taken from various camps of security forces. He said many people who had come forward for testing owing to symptoms tested positive. Many of them were tested at Panthachowk using Rapid Antigen Tests.

The total number of cases reported from Srinagar has reached 6000 today with 2392 of these cases undergoing treatment currently. 149 deaths have also been reported from the district.

Budgam had 61 cases today. Most of these were contacts of known cases.

The cases reported from other districts are: Baramulla 20, Pulwama 38, Kulgam 1, Shopian 6, Anantnag 23, Kupwara 21, Bandipora 10, Ganderbal 24.

In Jammu division, out of 81 new cases, 40 were from Jammu district. Rajouri had 2, Kathua 15, Udhampur 1, Samba 7, Poonch 12, Kishtwar 4.

In addition, 449 people were discharged from hospitals after they recovered from the virtual infection. With this, the total number of recovered cases has reached to 16667.
