1013 cases, 18 deaths in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir reported over 1000 COVID19 cases for the 5th consecutive day on Monday while 18 persons died due to coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

On Monday J&K reported 1013 cases, of which 600 were from Jammu division and 413 from Kashmir division. The total tally of COVID cases has reached 44570.

   

The health official informed that 18 persons died due to COVID19 taking the death toll to 822, of which 717 deaths have been reported in Kashmir division and 105 in Jammu division. Of the 18 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, seven including of a former legislator were reported in Jammu region.

Four deaths were reported from Jammu district, one each from Kathua and Doda districts.

In the Kashmir region, 11 deaths were recorded. An unidentified dead body found by Bemina Police Station was later tested positive for COVID. Three deaths occurred in Srinagar district which includes a non-local who passed away at SMHS, while a Rajouri resident died at SKIMS.

Three deaths were reported from Baramulla district, two from Pulwama and one each from Shopian, Kulgam and Budgam districts.

In Jammu district, 442 cases were detected. Jammu has become the second worst hit district in J&K as the COVID cases has reached 5795.

In Srinagar district, 136 cases were detected taking the total tally of cases to 10,300.

However, the health experts say that the concern is the increase in the number of active cases which has reached 11009, a few weeks back the number of active cases was hovering around seven thousand. Moreover, 433 more COVID19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 69 from Jammu Division and 364 from Kashmir Division.
