14 test positive in Shopian’s Hirpora

Fourteen more persons tested positive for Covid19 in Hirpora village of this south Kashmir district on Wednesday, taking the number of cases n the village to 34.

“All the 14 cases that turned positive in the district todayare from Hirpora,” Chief Medical Officer Shopian, Dr. Ramesh confirmed.

   

The village located on historic Mughal Road has less than1000 households with a population of 2800 souls.

CMO said all the cases are mostly family members andcontacts of earlier positive cases.

“Aggressive testing is on and so far 250 villagers have beentested,” he said.

The first corona case from this village was reported onApril 8. The patient had returned from Maharashtra days before the lockdown.

The CMO said the authorities were considering mass screeningof the village.
