Two persons including an Imam have been booked by police under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir for allegedly delivering provocative speeches at the funeral of militant Muhammad Rafiq Bhat of Chhundna Ganderbal in 2018. Bhat was an Assistant Professor in University of Kashmir and had joined militants just a day before being killed in an encounter with security forces.
SSP Ganderbal, Muhammad Khalil, said Imam Muhammad Rafiq Shah of Shuhama Ganderbal (a JeI activist) and Bashir Ahmad Lone of Brein Nishat have been chargesheeted in the case.
The police officer said that both the persons were out on bail and have been arrested again.
Muhammad Rafiq Bhat was killed along with top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Saddam Padder in Shopian district of southern Kashmir in 2018.
