Gunmen shot dead two civilians in Damhal Hanjipora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district late Wednesday evening.
The slain were identified as Ghulam Hassan Wagay, a retiredforest employee, and Siraj-u-din Gorsi of Nadimarg village of DH Pora.
A police official said that at around 10:45 pm suspectedmilitants broke into their houses and fired at them. The duo suffered grievousbullet injuries and were shifted to hospital, where doctors declared thembrought dead, he said.
Soon after the incident, security forces cordoned off thearea and launched searches to nab the assailants. This is the third suchincident in the district in a week. Last week, gunmen shot dead a youth inTurigam village. Another youth from Redwani village of Qaimoh was shot dead bythe suspected militants last week.
