2 flee from GMC isolated ward; officials bring them back

Two persons including a lady who had been put under observation in the isolated ward at Government Medical College and Hospital of Bakshi Nagar, here, had fled from the ward. However, they were brought back by the officials.

“Yesterday, two persons including a lady were shifted to theisolated ward of the GMC and Hospital,” Nodal Officer of J&K Cobid-19DrShafqat Khan, told Greater Kashmir.

   

Dr Khan said, “Both were kept under observation, but theirfamilies who came to meet them in the ward had taken them along claiming thatthey had no coronavirus.”

“We sent medial teams to the residences of the suspectedpersons at Satwari and Sarwal, to bring them back. The lady, who is a residentof Sarwal area had returned from Iran, and the man, a resident of Satwari, hadcome from South Korea; they had symptoms following which we kept them underobservation,” said Dr Khan.

He said: “We were able to convince the family members thatthere is a need to keep both of them under observation and they agreed, and webrought them back within an hour after they had left the ward.”

Similarly, he said, at least five people including an11-year-old boy who has come from Thailand has been kept under observation atSKIMS Soura in Srinagar. “They have come to Kashmir from Iran, Thailand, andChina.”

Dr Khan said: “So far, all the medical test reports arenegative,” said Dr Khan.

Meanwhile, strict vigil is being kept on the travelers atJammu Airport, Railway Station, and Lakhanpur to ensure that no coronavirussuspect may get into public.

“The passengers at the airport were asked to fillself-declaration forms about their travel history and symptoms, if any,” saidan official in Jammu airport.
