2 Kashmiris launch online platform for free medical consultation

Two Kashmiri professionals have launched an online platform giving free medical consultation to patients across Kashmir, who are unable to visit doctors amid lockdown. Shakeel Ahmed and Rameez Rashid said they came together to help the patients via online medium as everyone is confined to home amid covid-19 lockdown in Kashmir.

They said the website dr4uonline.com connect patients with doctors and helps them get free medical consultation.

Shakeel, who works with State Board of Technical Education, said that after they floated the idea, many young professionals ,doctors and civil servants got together to do their bit in order to make this possible.  “We know that all the medical manpower is busy with tackling covid-19 in J&K. There are many patients who are suffering and cannot go out for medical consultation amid the lockdown. Through this platform free medical consultation is a click away for them,” Shakeel said.  “We made the website few days back and its working now. Patients have to register themselves through the website and they will get free medical consultation online from the doctors who have volunteered for the cause,” he said.

He said the patients have to give their phone number on the website so that doctors can contact them. “Patients can also upload their case history on the website to get consultation,” he said, adding that doctors who want to volunteer will have to register on the website so that they can make sure that all the medical volunteers are professionals.  As of now over a dozen doctors are registered on the website. The professionals who developed the platform said that they are planning to add more features to it.

They said the website will help people be at home and get medical advice. Earlier both Shakeel and  Rameez had started an initiative called “covid-19 Helping Hand Kashmir” to crowd fund for PPEs and medical devices for the health staff in Kashmir.  They have also mobilized volunteers across Kashmir to spread awareness about covid-19 and help local administration.  They said that many people are contributing and they are overwhelmed by the response.
