208 ventilators in J&K, Bandipora has none

There are only 208 ventilators, both in public and private healthcare institutions, in Jammu and Kashmir to meet the gigantic challenge of covid-19. Bandipora district has not a single ventilator.

Of the 400 ventilators ordered to be procured earlier by thegovernment, officials said, only 34 have been received so far. “Rest will sooncome and will exclusively be used to deal with the coronavirus crisis.”

   

A total of 96 ventilators are in different hospitals andprivate nursing homes of Jammu division including 73 big ventilators and 23small ventilators which are transportable.

Similarly, Kashmir division has a total of 112 ventilatorsincluding 21 in private hospitals. However, Bandipora hospital has noventilator even as the district is terribly facing the deadly disease.

As per the official figures available with Greater Kashmir,Government Medical College, Jammu has 24 ventilators including nine small, SMGShas two, GMC Doda four including two transportable. The GMC Rajouri has sevenventilators, Kathua seven including five transport ventilators. There are fourventilators including two transportable composite at CRPF Hospital at Bantalab,six in Batra Hospital, five in Narayana Super Specialty Hospital, and 37ventilators in different nursing homes across Jammu.

The officials said that they have 1157 isolation beds inJammu division, and 1181 beds in Kashmir division, making a total number ofthese beds to 2338.

The officials said that the quarantine beds across Jammu andKashmir are 26943 including 18341 in Jammu and 8602 in Kashmir.

Kashmir division has a total number of 112 ventilators indifferent hospitals excluding Bandipora.

Sharing details, the officials said, 8 ventilators are inSKIMS Hospital (Bemina) Srinagar; JLNM hospital Srinagar has 4 ventilators, CDHospital Srinagar has 14 ventilators including six transportable, PulwamaDistrict Hospital 2 ventilators, Ganderbal one, Shopian 2, Kupwara 3, Sopore 5,Soura Hospital 24, SMHS 4, LD Hospital 2, Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar 4,JB Pant Hospital 2, Super Specialty Srinagar 2 and Anantnag 2 ventilators.

Baramulla district has 6 ventilators, Kulgam DistrictHospital one, Budgam District Hospital five, Pattan district hospital 3.

In Kashmir, a total of 21 ventilators are in private nursinghospitals including 18 big ventilators, and 3 transportable small ventilators.
