3 judicial officers appointed as judges of J&K HC

The Centre on Friday notified the appointment of three judicial officers as judges of the common High Court of the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

“In exercise of the power conferred by Clause (1) of Article217 of the Constitution, the President is pleased to appoint Vindo ChatterjiKoul, Sanjay Dhar and Puneet Gupta, to be judges of the common High Court forthe Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh, inthat order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of theirrespective offices,” said the notification issued Rajinder Kashyap, JointSecretary, Ministry of Law and Justice.

   

In February, the Supreme Court Collegium had approved theproposal for appointment of three judicial officers as judges of Jammu andKashmir High Court.Apart from Chief Justice Bobde, Justices N.V.Ramana, Arun Mishra, R.F. Nariman and R. Banumathi are part of the five-judgeCollegium.
