4 die of asphyxiation in sewage trench in Bijbehara

Four people among them two brothers died of asphyxiation in a sewage trench in Tulkhan village of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Dar (45) and his brother Abdul Rashid Dar (40) of Tulkhan village; Arshid Ahmad Wani (50) and his son Sajad Ahmad Wani (30), residents of Luktipora-Arwani village.

   

An official said the four were cleaning the sewage trench.

“All of them fell unconscious due to asphyxiation,” he said.

They were shifted to sub-district hospital Bijbehara where doctors declared them brought dead.

SDM Bijbehera Salim Jehangir told the Greater Kashmir that the postmortem of the deceased will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of their death.
