5 more test positive in Kashmir

Five new cases of COVID19 were confirmed today in Kashmir, taking the toll of those infected in J&K to 38.

Principal secretary to J&K government Rohit Kansal onSunday tweeted about five new cases of COVID19 in Kashmir. Kansal, who has beenusing his official Twitter handle for instant updates on COVID19 cases inJ&K, wrote, “5 more positive cases confirmed in Kashmir, 2 from Srinagar, 2Budgam, 1 Baramulla”.

   

Dr S Saleem Khan, nodal officer for COVID19 at GMC Srinagarsaid, four patients, who were admitted at CD Hospital were tested positive forCOVID19. He refused to share details about the fifth reported case.

While giving details, he said, three people hailing fromBudgam district had been admitted and tested positive. Two of them have contactwith a group that tested positive earlier last week at SKIMS. He said the otherperson had travelled from Delhi to Srinagar. One person from Srinagar, abusinessman, had also tested positive on Sunday, he said.

Dr Khan said 78 samples had been tested at the lab in CDHospital on Sunday of which 24 reports were awaited. “All the patients weredoing well,” he said.

At SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan, medical superintendent SKIMS said,31 people had been put in isolation on Sunday and 6 patients were already inisolation, taking the total number of isolated patients to 37.

In addition, he said, 65 people had been quarantined at thehospital. None of the 25 samples tested positive.

With the five new cases, the toll of COVID19 has reached 38in J&K. This includes 28 from Kashmir. The Government today informed that6465 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put undersurveillance and, so far, 38 cases (34 active positive, 02 recovered and 02deaths) have tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel coronavirus(COVID19) 3260 persons have been kept under home quarantine while as 307 are inhospital quarantine.

Persons who are under home surveillance stand at 2163 whileas 735 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period. The Bulletinfurther said that 588 samples have been sent for testing of which 542 tested asnegative while as 8 reports are awaited.
