7 Srinagar residents among 16 fall victim to COVID19

Another 16 people were reported to have lost life to COVID19 in the last 24 hours, the death toll in J&K reaching 675.

COVID19 has the highest mortality in Srinagar district, which also has the highest number of cases reported in J&K. Out of the 16 deaths reported to have taken place in the UT in the 24 hours prior to Wednesday evening, seven were from Srinagar. While the number of positives in Srinagar was 8553, 209 deaths have taken place in the district. With this measure, an estimated one death per 41 cases has taken place in the capital city.

   

The fresh casualties included a 62 year old male admitted at Chest Disease Hospital. He was from Rawalpora and was brought to the hospital on 24th August with severe pneumonia and breathlessness, a doctor at the hospital said.

A 50 year old woman from Shalimar, who was a diabetic, passed away at SMHS Hospital. Three males, all aged 60 years died in the past 24 hours. While two of these, one each from Rainawari and Nowhatta were admitted at SKIMS Soura, another one, from Padshahi Bagh Srinagar was admitted at SMHS Hospital. A 70 year old from Fatehkadal area of Srinagar admitted at Chest Diseases Hospital died today while another man, 75 years old, from old Barzulla area breathed his last at SKIMS Soura.

An 80 year old man admitted at GMC Anantnag lost his life today. He was from Kokernag area, a doctor said. From the neighboring Pulwama district, a 60 year old woman admitted with sepsis at SMHS Hospital died today as well. A 48 year old man from Pinglena Pulwama who had passed away at Chest Diseases Hospital on Monday was reported today.

A 63 year old woman from Budgam admitted at SKIMS Medical College Hospital, a 75 year old man from Panzer Shopian admitted at GMC Anantnag and a 70 year old man from Tikker Kupwara admitted at SMHS Hospital are also among the recently deceased people.

Three deaths were reported from Jammu division today and include a woman from Dhar Dingoo in Kathua. She was admitted at GMC Kathua.
