Army chief reviews security situation in Jammu areas

Army chief generalBipinRawat Sunday visited various forward locations in Samba and Ratnuchakareas of Jammu province to review the deployment and operational preparednessof the soldiers on ground, officials said.

The army chief wasbriefed about the situation and preparedness by lieutenant general JS Nain,general officer commanding of the army’s 9 corps, which overlooks security in”strategically important” Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts.

   

“The army chief alsointeracted with the soldiers in forward locations and expressed completeconfidence in the army’s capabilities to thwart any nefarious design of enemiesor handle any situation,” said Jammu-based army spokesperson, lieutenantcolonel DevenderAnand.

The army chief alsopraised the high state of morale and preparedness of the soldiers, he said.General Rawat was on a two-day visit to Jammu amid intense shelling along theborders following India’s airstrikes across the Line of Control.

On Saturday, the armychief and the northern army commander lieutenant general Ranbir Singh visitedNagrota-based 16 corps headquarters where he was briefed about the currentoperational situation, prevailing security scenario and the preparedness of theformation.
