BJP retains all 3 seats in Jammu, Ladakh

Bhartiya Janata Party has retained all the three Parliamentary seats of Jammu-Poonch, Udhampur-Kathua-Doda and Ladakh Parliamentary constituencies.

While the Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh who was fieldedfrom Udhampur seat, defeated Vikramaditya Singh, the Dogra scion with a marginof 348149 votes, Jugal Kishore

   

Sharma defeated senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla with amargin of 289027 votes.

Dr Jitendra Singh polled 714076 votes and Vikramaditya Singh365927 votes. Jugal Kishore Sharma polled 840214 votes and his rival RamanBhalla got 551187 votes.

In Ladakh, BJP’s Jamyang Tsering Namgyal polled 41315 voteswhile his nearest opponent Sajjad Hussain finished with 31552 votes, thus alead of 9763 votes in favour of the former CEC, LAHDC Leh.

In Udhampur, Tilak Raj Bhagat of BSP polled 16400 votes, DrJitendra Singh BJP got 714076 votes, Vikramaditya Singh of Congress 365927votes, Harsh Dev Singh of JKNPP 23959 votes, Choudhary Lal Singh of DSS 18645votes, independent candidates Mohammad Ayub 1610 votes, Meenakshi 1567 votes,Bansi Lal 1293 votes, Rakesh Mudgal 1586 votes, Shaber Ahmed 4417 votes, GaribSingh 4949 votes, Firdous Ahmed Bawani 5513 votes, and 7467 votes were polledin favour of NOTA (None Of The Above). No vote was rejected in UdhampurParliamentary seat. When this report was filed, the votes polled through ballotsystem were not counted. 

In Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency, Jugal KishoreSharma managed to get 840214 votes, 220219 more than in 2014. Raman Bhalla ofCongress got 551187 votes, BSP’s Badri Nath 14053 votes, DSS’s Lal Singh 6849votes, veteran NPP leader Bhim Singh just 3705 votes. Total 2546 votes werepolled for NOTA.

Speaking to reporters, Jugal Kishore Sharma said peoplevoted for the “courageous and bold steps” taken by Prime Minister NarendraModi.

Asked whether it was Balakote or development that iscredited to the BJP trends, he said that everything that is taken in theinterest of the country including security, development and peace and progressgoes to the credit of government.

He said the BJP had performed well in Kashmir too in thelast local body polls and “our efforts are on to do better in these polls aswell”.

Asked if his party would scrap Article 370 and 35-A if votedback to power, he said it is already in the BJP’s poll manifesto.

“We will do everything which is in the interest of Jammu andKashmir. Nothing has been given by these Acts”, he said. He further added thatBJP wants assembly elections as soon as possible.

In Ladakh BJP candidate Jamyang Tsering Namgyal won withmargin of 9000 votes. The contest was tough among him and two Independentcandidates from Kargil – NC-PDP supported Sajjad Hussain and Congress rebelAsgar Ali Karbalai.

Namgyal managed 41315 votes while his nearest opponentSajjad Hussain finished with 31552. Asgar managed 29069 votes while Congresscandidate Rigzin Spalbar finished last with 20447.
