Security forces on Saturday carried out surprise searches at several places in Budgam district to track down militants who managed to flee after an encounter in Beerwah area.
On Friday, a policeman was killed and another injured during an exchange of fire in Beerwah with militants who managed to escape.
Reports said that columns of police, army and paramilitary CRPF carried out a search operation in Pethpora village of Budgam. However no one was arrested. Random searches were also carried out at some other places.
“Searches were carried out at some suspected locations,” a police official said. “Hunt is on to track down the militants who escaped yesterday.”
