Congress worker arrested in Shopian

The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Shopian remanded a Congress worker, accused of carrying militants in his vehicle, to seven days police custody on Thursday.

A police official said that Gowhar Ahmed Wani, a lawyer, was arrested for allegedly transporting militants in his car.

   

He said that a case under UAPA has been registered in Imam Sahib Shopian in this regard.

According to the official, Wani had allegedly jumped an army check-post in Trenz Rampura village on December 7.

He said that police later detained Wani for questioning and arrested him formally on Thursday.

“The CJM court today sent him to police custody till December 17,” he added.
