Cop killed, 15 injured ‘after bus turns turtle amid stone-pelting’

A constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed and 14 paramilitary forces personnel injured Tuesday after two buses of the police and polling staff came under stone-pelting and turned turtle in Zalangam and Sagam villages of Kokernag area in Anantnag district, officials said.

The injured were immediately taken to sub-district hospitalKokernag, an official said.

   

He said the injured policeman was evacuated to districthospital Anantnag, where he was pronounced as “brought dead”.

The deceased was identified as constable Hilal Ahmad Khan ofTral, Pulwama.

During the day, stone-pelting incidents between youths andsecurity forces were reported from Kokernag, Sagam, Dialgam and other adjacentareas of Anantnag.

Groups of youth had hit streets in different villages ofAnantnag and pelted stones on buses of security forces while they werewithdrawing from poll-bound areas, the officials said.
