Covid-19: SMC sets-up special control room

Srinagar Municipal Cooperation has set up a special control room to disinfect public places in case of any emergency arising in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

The men and machinery in the control room, who shall beready 24X7 at SMC headquarters, here, have been provided necessary training andinstructions by experts.

   

SMC Secretary, Muhammad Akbar Sofi said: “In addition to thepresent anti-Covid-19 activities, the control room is aimed to meet anyemergency. All arrangements have been put in place in the control room to rushthe teams within no time for any exigency.”

He said: “While the process of screening, treatment andsurveillance of the people in quarantine is being done by doctors, the SMC isjust a back-up team to disinfect public places, quarantine houses, airport,ambulances, and other places.”

Sofi, who is supervising anti-Covid-19 operations carried bySMC said: “We are ready to meet any sudden challenge. If, God forbid, there isany outbreak at any place or places, we are ready to carry disinfection processwithin no time.”

On 11 March, SMC had issued several orders for enforcementof precautionary measures like closure of markets within Srinagar municipallimits in view of coronavirus threat.
