COVID19: 1235 new cases, 14 deaths

As many as 14 people succumbed to COVID19 infection and 1235 fresh cases were confirmed in J&K on Tuesday. The death toll reached 1052 and the positive cases mounted to 66261.

Kashmir division reported 7 COVID19 deaths today. Three of these were from Srinagar, two from Anantnag and two from Kupwara. The death toll in Kashmir division reached 799.

   

The casualties from Srinagar district include a 50 year old male resident of Qamarwari who was admitted at SMHS Hospital. He was admitted with COVID19 pneumonia, a doctor working at the hospital said. A 60 year old male resident of Hazratbal Srinagar died at Chest Diseases Hospital late Monday night. A 90 year old female

from Hawal Srinagar lost life at SMHS Hospital, an official said. She was suffering from a malignancy.

Two people from Kupwara district who lost life to COVID19 between Monday and Tuesday evening included a 59 year old female from Potshahi Lolab. A health official said that the patient was brought to hospital in a critical condition – breathlessness and dropped oxygen saturation. She was diabetic and hypertensive as well, he said adding that her condition deteriorated and she passed away soon after on Tuesday morning. “Her sample tested positive on Rapid Antigen Test kit,” he said. The other death from the district was of a 65 year old resident of Kralpora, admitted at SMHS Hospital.

Two patients succumbed to the respiratory viral infection at GMC Anantnag. Both were males from Kadipora Anantnag, a health official said adding that one was a 60 year old and the other a 75 year old.

In Jammu division, 7 deaths were reported today. The death toll in the division reached 253.

A new record for single-day recoveries was set today in J&K. 1619 patients were declared COVID19 free, as per Government, the highest single-day recovery till day. On Monday, 1158 people were reported to have recovered, the highest till then.

The positive cases in Kashmir division accumulated to 42059 today when 499 people tested positive. Of these, 8993 are active cases and 32277 have recovered. 38 cases were among the travelers.

210 of these were from Srinagar district. As per information issued by J&K Government, 13409 people have tested positive in Srinagar till date. These include 18 security personnel, 9 service providers, 49 symptomatic individuals and 38 contacts, 30 random samples and many others who were sampled prior to surgeries and other procedures.

In other districts of Kashmir, the number of positive cases were Budgam 59, Baramulla 30, Pulwama 62, Anantnag 28, Kupwara 22, Ganderbal 21, Kulgam 12, Shopian 19.

In Jammu division, out of the 736 new cases,  district Jammu had the highest number of cases. An addition of 253 cases took the tally of cases in the district to 10657, second highest in J&K. Of these 5863 are active positive. 98 cases were reported from Doda today.
