COVID19 | All Kashmir districts except Bandipora again classified as red-zones

Government has classified all districts of Kashmir valley except Bandipora as red zones following assessment of covid-19 situation in J&K. In Jammu region, only Ramban district falls in red zone.

For classification of J&K districts, State Executive Committee, department of Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, took a review of the virus situation.

   

The committee took into account recent spike and trends in new cases for the purpose of classification, sources said.

Accordingly, the government declared entire Kashmir division except Bandipora district, as red zone.

In Jammu division, only Ramban district fell in the category of red zone. Out of total 10 districts in Jammu division, the government classified Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Udhampur, Poonch and Rajouri districts as orange zones.

Bandipora district in Kashmir has been classified as an orange zone.

Two districts of Chenab Valley in Jammu division – Kishtwar and Doda— have been classified as green zones.

Meanwhile, the Lakhanpur continued to be classified as containment zone on Jammu-Pathankot highway for 500 meter buffer, whereas Jawahar Tunnel area on either side on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has also been kept in a containment zone.

“The categorization of districts into red, orange and green zones will be followed for the purpose of implementation of permitted activities in the respective districts,” reads an order issued by the Chief Secretary, J&K and Chairman, State Executive Committee, BVR Subrahmanyam.
