Militants shot dead a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel at Bijbehjara town in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district today. The slain was identified as head constable Shivlal Netam of Chattisgarh.
A police official said militants opened fire on a CRPF partynear Goriwan along the old national highway at around 5:30 pm.
“A CRPF man received bullet injury in his chest and wasremoved to GMC Anantnag where he was declared bought dead,” he said.
A police official added the constable belonged to116-battalion and was part of the law and order duty team under the area ofoperation of 90-battalion CRPF.
Soon after the attack, police, CRPF, and army cordoned offthe area and launched searches to nab the assailants.
