CRPF man injured in Tral grenade attack

A CRPF man was wounded after militants fired a UBGL grenade towards a camp of the force in Nowdal village of Tral area in southern Awantipora police district Wednesday, officials said.

A senior CRPF officer told Greater Kashmir that the UBGL wasfired on 180 battalion CRPF camp at Nowdal at around 7.10pm.

   

“A head constable of our force, identified as T L Prasad,sustained splinter injury in his palm. He was given first aid in the nearesthealthcare unit,” he said.

As per locals, the loud bang caused panic in the village andwithin no time shopkeepers downed their shutters and people started runningtowards their homes. 

This is the second grenade attack in the town in the pasttwo days.

On Tuesday, suspected militants hurled a grenade at theresidence of NC leader Muhammad Ashraf Bhat in Hamami Mohalla, Tral, when NC’sAnantnag parliamentary seat candidate Hasnain Masoodi was addressing the partyworkers.

Following the attack, joint teams of the police and securityforces rushed to Nowdal and launched searches to nab the assailants.
