Death toll breaches 600 mark with 14 deaths

The death toll attributed to CO VID19 in J&K crossed 600 mark and reached 608 on Friday as 14 more people lost their lives to the infection.

The deceased were between 52 and 85 years of age and hailed from Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla, Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama and Bandipora districts.

   

Four Srinagar residents lost lives in the 24 hours prior to Friday evening when this report was filed. These included a 52 year old man from Shivpora Srinagar who was admitted at SKIMS Soura. The deceased, a doctor at the hospital said, was admitted on 18 August with COVID19 pneumonia. He said the patient suffered respiratory distress.

The other Srinagar residents who lost lives were a 65 year old from Chanapora area admitted at SMHS Hospital with pneumonia, a 70 year old woman from Chattabal Area admitted at SKIMS Medical College Hospital Bemina (JVC) and a 67 year old man from Dalgate admitted at Chest Diseases Hospital.

A 72 year old woman from Chattergam Budgam died at Covid Care Center Budgam. A 75 year old man from Kralpora Budgam died at SKIMS Medical College Hospital, while a70 year old man from Budaina area of the district lost life at SKIMS Soura. In addition, a Budgam resident, from Chadoora area, aged 65 years, died at SMHS Hospital.

A 70 year old man from Shopian admitted at SMHS Hospital died late Thursday night, while an 85 year old man from Drangbal Pampore and a 70 year old man from Dialgam Anantnag who were admitted at SKIMS Soura also lost life today.

A 65 year old from Kreeri Baramulla admitted at SMHS Hospital with multiple disorders, including diabetes and chronic kidney disease, also lost the battle with the viral infection. A 70 year old woman from Bandipora also lost life at the same hospital. Other casualties at this hospital included an 80 year old from Pattan Baramulla.
