Delhi trekkers find Kashmir best choice for trekking

A group of 12 trekkers from Delhi completed a five-day long expedition to Kashmir Himalayas.

According to the trekkers, they found Kashmir the “best choice” for trekking.

   

“One of the key aspects for a traveller is the assurance of a clear policy for adventure tourists entering the state during the COVID times. Some mountainous states like Sikkim and other north east states are still inaccessible in these times while as other states have an ambiguous policy in place like Uttrakhand and Himachal Pradesh with regard to trekking,” wrote Maninder Kohli, a group member, on his Instagram handle.

The group had taken all the precautionary measures and adhered to the covid19 guidelines. “A week prior to the start of the trek, all 12 participants

and 9 of our support crew in Kashmir had agreed to limit interaction and self isolation. For the comfort of the group of all 12 participants for the trek undergo a COVID-19 test two days prior to the departure wherein all tested Negative. All of us used a face mask and a face shield during the flight.”

The group started journey from Pahalgam and reached Tarsar lake situated at an height of around 3750 metres in south Kashmir Himalayas in two days.

The group completed the 48 kilometres long trek in the Sindh valley near Sonamarg by crossing the Sonomous pass.

The group expressed gratitude to the director industries Mahmood Shah who is also an avid trekker for all the guidance and hospitality during the trekking.

“It’s always the people that makes a place that much more special and Kashmiri hospitality stands up there amongst the most heart warming (sic).

“A big thanks to our support team and guiding team particularly Mahmood Ahmed Shah, the director industries and an avid trekker and photographer who took personal interest in ensuring our experience left us wanting for more of this land,” wrote Ahtushi on her Insta handle.
