Door to door searches in Shopian village

Security forces on Saturday morning launched a cordon-and-search operation (CASO) at a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A police official said that columns of army, CRPF and police encircled the Chitragam village and started door to door searches. The operation, according to the official, was launched after the forces were tipped off about the presence of militants in the area.

A local resident told the Greater Kashmir that as they woke up, they saw the entire area dotted by the security personnel.

“A cluster of houses in Malik Pora locality of the village were searched,” he said.

The operation was called off after no militant was found in the village.

On February 15, a similar operation was launched in the village that lasted for around 21 hours.
