ECI appoints 3 ‘special observers’ for J&K polls

The election commission of India has appointed three “special observers” for the forthcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir.                                     

These include Amarjit Singh Gill, former director general,CRPF and former IAS officers Noor Mohammad and VinodZutshi.

   

 Gill has worked asIG, CRPF in Jammu and Kashmir, while Noor Muhammad, former secretary, hasworked for more than a decade in the field of election management, as chiefelectoral officer of UP, deputy election commissioner in the ElectionCommission, senior consultant in India International Institute of Democracy& Election Management and international consultant on elections inAfghanistan.

Zutshi, a former secretary in the central government, alsohas wide experience of more than a decade in elections at the state-level aswell as at the Commission level. The three special observers will soon have ameeting in the Commission before visiting Jammu and Kashmir.
