Farooq raises deterioration of Valley lakes in Parliament

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader and Member of Parliament Hasnain Masoodi has sought clarification from the Ministry of Environment on the pitiable condition of the Anchar, Khushal Sar and Gilsar lakes in the valley.   

In response to a query raised by party President Dr FarooqAbdullah, the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate change stated thatthe three lakes are facing pollution from untreated sewage.

   

The Minister further stated, “The State Government had notsubmitted proposal for revival of three lakes though it could propose to bringthe lakes within ambit of National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Ecosystem.”

Prakash Javadekar, Minister for Environment, Forest andClimate Change, however assured Hasnain Masoodi, Member of Parliament fromAnantnag who met him at his office, that the ministry would ask the StateGovernment to put a proposal forthwith and once proposal is received it shallbe expeditiously processed.Meanwhile, Hasnain Masoodi has urged thegovernor administration of the state to submit a detailed project report inthis direction to the concerned ministry.
