Heavy rains since Wednesday morning triggered flash floods in several areas of Ganderbal district in central Kashmir.
Locals said that there were flash floods in Nilla Najwan area of Kangan and Chuntwaliwar area of Lar in the district.
They said that cloudburst followed by torrential rains caused flash floods in a tributary at Najwan area and Balapati area of Chuntwaliwar, due to which agricultural fields and crops suffered massive damage while the link roads got blocked. However, there was no loss of life.
Former MLA Ganderbal and NC leader Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar urged the government to provide compensation and relief to the affected farmers.
