Government forces launched a cordon-and-search operation (CASO) in Tral area of Awantipora police district on Monday evening.
A source said that army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, special operations group of J&K police and central reserve police force (CPRF) laid a siege around Reshipora area, near bus stand in Tral town, at around 8pm.
“The CASO was launched following inputs about presence of militants in the area,” he said.
The search operation was on when reports last came in, even as officials said the cordon has been “tightened and lights installed”.
