Governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed shock and pain over the alleged rape of a 3-year old girl from Bandipora district, an official spokesman said.
He said the Governor and his Advisor Vijay Kumar havedirected the J&K Police’s Special Investigation Team to complete theinvestigation into the case on fast track basis so that the culprit is broughtto justice.
The Governor directed the Divisional Commissioner KashmirBaseer Khan and IG Police SP Pani to personally monitor the investigation.
Separate inquiry has also been ordered to check veracity ofthe age of accused and ascertain the veracity of age certificate issued, thespokesman added.
The Governor Malik requested general public to maintainpeace and mutual brotherhood. He assured that administration is taking each andevery step for maintaining public order and anybody having any grievance or anyapprehension should contact the Police Control Room or Divisional CommissionerKashmir’s office.
The spokesman said that earlier in the day Governor Malikspoke to IGP Kashmir and took detailed review of the ongoing investigationsinto the case.
He directed the IGP to work swiftly in the case and ensurethat the culprit gets exemplary punishment for the shameful act.
The spokesperson stated that Governor also spoke toreligious leaders of different communities and asked them to “deplore thisgruesome incident unanimously and make appeal to the people to remain calm andnot let anti-social elements disturb peace and harmony in the society.”
The Governor urged the parents, teachers and prominentcitizens to take significant steps in imbibing children with morally sound andvalue-based education so as to build a strong foundation for “our society basedon compassion and kindness”, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Governor has appealed people not to pay anyheed to rumors, adding rumor mongers will be dealt strictly as per law.
