Govt constitutes high-level committee for revival of business sector in J&K

Government has constituted a high level committee for ‘relief and revival of business sector’ in Jammu and Kashmir. The committee has been asked to submit a ‘consolidated proposal’ by 1st  September 2020.

A day earlier, a delegation of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) had called on Lt Governor Manoj Sinha seeking “constitution of a committee for the revival of the businesses in J&K”.

   

The committee constituted shall comprise of Advisor KK Sharma, Financial Commissioner, Finance Department, Commissioner/Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Commissioner Secretary, Tourism Department, and Chairman, Managing Director, J&K Bank, a GAD order said.

This committee, it said, has been directed to prepare a proposal for relief and revival of the business sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

The committee shall hold detailed consultations with various business associations and submit a consolidated proposal by  1st September 2020 for consideration of the government both at Union Territory level and at the Central level.

 “We had a meeting with the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, yesterday and we demanded to constitute a committee for the relief and revival of the business as trade is suffering,” said KCCI, president, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmed.

He said: “The trade and business needs a strong push from the government for its revival in J&K because we have entered from one lockdown to another. One of our main concerns is growing unemployment.
