Govt nominates officers for ‘coronavirus control efforts’

Stepping up its efforts, the government today appointed various officers to ensure prevention and control of novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to an order issued by the GAD, Bhupinder Kumar,Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), J&K, shall be the overallin-charge of the ‘coronavirus control efforts’ at the Union Territory level whoshall work under the supervision of Financial Commissioner, Health &Medical Education Department, J&K.

   

The order said that Dr. Shafqat Khan (designated NodalOfficer) shall work under the supervision of overall in-charge coronaviruscontrol efforts (Mission Director, NHM).

Further, at the Divisional-level, respective DivisionalCommissioners shall be the overall in-charge of coronavirus control efforts andshall be assisted by the respective Directors of Health Services.

At the District Level, Deputy Commissioners shall be thein-charge of coronavirus control efforts to be assisted by the respective ChiefMedical Officers.

The order says that the Apex Level/Divisional Level/DistrictLevel Officers shall ensure detection at the Airports/Railway Stations andother entry points.

They shall also ensure creation of adequate quarantine,isolation and other requisite facilities besides undertaking adequate measuresfor surveillance of home quarantined persons.

The nominated officers shall also take all other measuresrequired for effective control of coronavirus; the order adds.

Meanwhile, Director Health, Jammu, DrRenu Sharma toldGreater Kashmir that samples of 12 persons in Jammu were taken. “Eight ofthem tested negative of coronavirus and the result of four others is awaited.We have sent the samples to Delhi’s MCDC.”

Pertinently, an isolation ward has been established withseparate staff in the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu where the’suspected’ coronavirus cases are handled.

It may be mentioned that the officials at Jammu airport aretaking self-disclosure form from the travelers who have visited 12 definedcountries with question like “Do you have illness since January 15?” Thesecountries include China, Hong-Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand,Vietnam, Nepal, Iran, Italy, Republic of Korea (South Korea), andSingapore.
