Govt sets up isolation facility at Sanat Nagar for passengers

As part of preparation for coronavirus prevention, J&K government Wednesday set up at Sanat Nagar here a ‘full-fledged screening and isolation facility’ for passengers arriving at Srinagar airport.

The 30-bedded health center, earlier known as Sanat NagarMaternity,

   

was Wednesday opened up and prepared to serve as astandalone isolation center.

The center has been created to house screening facilitiesfor passengers arriving from places affected by coronavirus.

The facility, Officer on Special Duty Health and MedicalEducation department DrShafqat Khan said, will have 24×7 medical staff toscreen the passengers. In addition, the facility will have isolation to housesuspected patients. “We are equipping the facility to act as a safe andscientific quarantine,” he said.

In addition, community health centers at Chanapora andOmpora have been designated as support facilities for coronavirus preparation.Medical teams from J&K are being updated by World Health Organisationregarding coronavirus.

Meanwhile a patient was admitted to Sher-e-Kashmir Instituteof Medical Sciences (SKIMS) with suspected coronavirus symptoms. The patienthad a travel history of Thailand and has been admitted to the quarantine warsof the Institute. 

The Institute has created a 20-bedded isolation facility asa backup as part of its preparedness drill.
