Militants lobbed a grenade on Awantipora police station in southern Pulwama district on Monday, official sources said.
The grenade, hurled at around 7.45pm, exploded with a bang but no loss of life or damage was reported, they said
The attackers, they said, managed to escape from the spot.
Following the attack, security forces rushed to the spot and launched searches to nab the attackers.
Senior superintendent of police Awantipora Tahir Saleem Khan denied the attack.
“No attack happened on our police station,” he said.
