A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces along the Line of Control in Kupwara forests on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
A police official said that soldiers along the LoC inGumgund forests “spotted militants movement” on Wednesday afternoon.
He said on being challenged, the militants opened firetriggering a gun battle.
The militants are believed to have infiltrated to this sidetaking advantage of inclement weather. They later disappeared in the forests,he said.
However, more reinforcement was rushed to the area and theentire area was sealed, the official said.
“The area has been cordoned off and a massive searchoperation started to nab the militants,” S R Amberkar, SSP Kupwara, said.
